Helpful Tips

To ensure we make the most of our time together, we recommend having as much relevant project information available as possible. Don't worry if you don't have everything, we'll work with whatever stage you're currently at.

If available, please bring:

  • Architectural or building plans

  • Site survey or floor plans

  • Joinery drawings

  • Electrical and lighting plans

  • Builder or consultant documentation

  • Inspiration images or Pinterest boards

  • Material or product samples you've already selected

  • A list of questions or decisions you'd like guidance on

  • Your project budget (or budget range)

  • Any quotes you've received from builders or suppliers

Most importantly, come with an open mind. My role is to provide clarity, confidence and practical direction, helping you make informed decisions that best suit your project, lifestyle and budget.

Frequently Asked Questions

What happens during the Design Intensive?

Over three hours, we'll work through your project together, reviewing your plans, discussing your ideas, answering your questions and providing professional advice tailored specifically to your project. Every session is customised to your individual needs.

Do I need to have plans before booking?

No. Whether you're at the planning stage or already under construction, the Design Intensive can be tailored to wherever you are in your project.

What if I haven't made any selections yet?

That's completely fine. Many clients book before making any decisions so they can move forward with greater confidence and avoid costly mistakes.

Can we visit suppliers during the session?

Yes. Depending on your priorities and location, your session may include visiting showrooms or suppliers if this is the best use of our time together. Otherwise, you can book the 'Designer For A Day' service separately where we can focus specifically on that aspect of your project (if you don't want to spend Design Intensive time doing that) - totally up to you.

Can my partner, builder or architect attend?

Absolutely. Anyone involved in the decision-making process is welcome to attend the session, as this often leads to clearer communication and better project outcomes.

Will you provide a design after the session?

The Design Intensive is a consultancy service rather than a traditional full-service design package. You'll receive expert guidance, sketches where applicable, recommendations, a roadmap and professional advice during the session, empowering you to confidently move forward with your project.

Can I continue working with FOS after the Design Intensive?

Yes. Many clients choose to continue through ongoing consultancy, where we can provide support as your project evolves - from refining selections and reviewing details to supplier guidance and accessing our trusted network of industry professionals.

Is this suitable for renovations and new builds?

Yes. The Design Intensive is suitable for renovations, extensions, new homes, apartments and selected commercial projects.

Will I have access to trade suppliers and discounts?

Where appropriate, clients may benefit from access to FOS Collective's trusted supplier network and selected trade pricing. Access and discount levels vary between suppliers and are considered on a project-by-project basis.

What if we don't get through everything?

The session is structured around your highest priorities to ensure the most important decisions are addressed first. If additional assistance is required, ongoing consultancy can be arranged to continue supporting your project.

Is the Design Intensive worth it?

The value of the Design Intensive isn't measured by the three hours we spend together - it's measured by the confidence, clarity and costly mistakes you avoid throughout the life of your project as well as the 15 years of insider knowledge carefully curated in your resource library. One well-informed decision can save thousands of dollars, countless hours and months of unnecessary stress, making this an investment in the success of your entire renovation or build.
